Kanye West likely woke up a very disappointed man this morning.
The rapper took to Twitter yesterday and told followers he's "supporting the Democratic ticket in these midterms."
But the Democrats were walloped across the board by the Republicans last night, losing control of the House and the Senate.
Still, "the midterms are extremely important," Kanye encouraged his fans, regardless of party affiliation. "I know it’s last minute, but if you haven’t voted, please vote today."
Prior to her her husband's message, Kim Kardashian had Tweeted that she's "standing with Obama in the midterm election 2morrow," causing some to wonder whether she believed the President was up for re-election.
In a separate Tweet, meanwhile, West wrote that "Me and my wife met with President Obama two weeks ago."
He didn't offer any further details, but this is noteworthy because Barack Obama has not always gotten along with Kanye West.
Years ago, Obama referred to West as a jackass.
Then, in late 2013, Obama slammed Kanye and Kardashian, saying they represented a warped vision of the American dream, bragging too often about their wealth and setting unrealistic goals for the country's youth.
"There has been a shift in culture,” Obama said at the time. “We weren't exposed to the things we didn't have in the same way that kids these days are... There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous."
He added:
“Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success.”
In response, Kanye later said he believes the President refers to him and Kardashian just to sound cool, "just to be down."
Man. We'd love to have been a fly on the wall during their recent hang!
