But what about life as a teen bride or a teen groom? Turns out, this is no walk in the relationship park, either.
A number of celebrities have exchanged vows before they were legally permitted to vote. Heck, some even did so before they were legally permitted to drink.
Not everyone knows that Kim Kardashian married music producer Damon Thomas (pictured) when she was 19. The year was 2000 and Thomes filed for divorce in 2003. A 72-day marriage later and Kim is now on husband number-three, Kanye West.
Olivia Wilde was 19 when she married Tao Ruspoli, the son of an Italian prince who was more than a decade older than her. They exchanged vows on a school bus and got divorced in 2011.
Bo Derek and John Derek wed 1976 when she was 18 and he was 48 years older. The couple actually began dating when she was 16 and they moved to Germany until Bo turned 18 to avoid American statutory rape laws. They stayed married until he passed away in 1998.
In February 2004, Solange Knowles married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Smith. She was 17 at the time. In October of that year, she gave birth to their son, Daniel Jr.
LeAnn Rimes married backup dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002 when she was 19 years old. They divorced in 2010 and then she married Eddie Cibrian soon after.
Drew Barrymore was only 16 when she got engaged to Leland Hayward in 1991. She called that engagement off and then another to Jamie Walters in 1993. However, she STILL managed to tie the knot before 20, doing so Welsh bartender Jeremy Thomas in 1994. The marriage only lasted two months.
Melanie Griffith started dating her mother's 22-year-old costar, Don Johnson, when she was just 14. They married in 1976 (when she was 18), but divorced after six months. But they got back together in 1989, had a baby, got married for a second time, and stayed married until 1996.
Macaulay Culkin got hitched to Rachel Miner when he was just 17. The young love didn't last long, though, as they separated in 2000 and divorced in 2002.
Courtney Stodden is famous specifically for being a teenage bride. The then-17-year old married 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison in 2011, though the two legally separated in 2013.
And this may come as a shock, but nearly none of these marriages worked out in the end.
For many stars, they were the first of multiple weddings. For others, the marriage served as a springboard to fame, though that fame has fortunately been fleeting for someone such as Courtney Stodden.
