It's been over a week since the now-famous Bruce Jenner interview in which the Olympian-turned-reality-star revealed the details of his ongoing gender identity transition.
Most of his family came off as supportive and compassionate, with Bruce praising Kim Kardashian in particular for her understanding.
But while Bruce's famous children have been there for him throughout the difficult process of coming out, his most recent ex-wife, Kris Jenner, has been criticized for refusing to provide any sort of comment for Bruce's 20/20 special.
Kris was the only one of Bruce's three ex-wives to not offer any words of encouragement for his heavily-hyped interview, and now the notorious momager has entered damage-control mode:
The above preview from the upcoming Keeping Up With the Kardashians two-part special about Bruce's sex change features Kris crying to Kim about her confusion over her ex's new identity.
"I have these memories of, like, this life, and I feel sometimes like it didn't exist," Kris says while crying.
Many believe the scene is nothing but a staged attempt by Kris to portray herself as a victim:
“Kris was in pure damage control and needed to show a softer side, and so she decided the best way to do it was to film with Kim after Bruce’s interview,” a source tells Radar Online.
“It was absolutely shot after Bruce’s appeared on 20/20 with Diane Sawyer. The criticism that Kris received for not publicly supporting Bruce really stung. This was her attempt to show a softer side, and get the fans back in her corner...“Fans of the show should know by now, everything is scripted,”
Obviously, the most important thing that Bruce accomplished with his interview was to increase understanding of gender dysphoria and to make transgender individuals all over the world feel more comfortable in their own skin.
Although exposing Kris Jenner as the phony that she is is a pretty nice achievement in its own right.
