Kris Jenner likes to exercise tight control over which information about her family goes public.
That may sound like a funny thing to say about the woman who gave us the Kim Kardashian sex tape, but it's important to remember that that famous privacy violation was carefully orchestrated by Kris in order to boost Kim's career.
Obviously, it worked better than expected, but now it's up to Kris to keep her daughters in the limelight, and these days she's acutely aware of the fact that not all press is good press.
As you may have heard, Kanye West was hospitalized for exhaustion last night.
The news forced Kim to cancel her first public appearance since she being at gunpoint in Paris in October in order to return to Los Angeles to be by her husband's side.
Kim had been scheduled to attend the Angel Ball in New York - an event planned to pay tribute to the philanthropic work of her late father, Robert Kardashian.
Somewhat controversially, Kris stayed behind in order to put in an appearance at the event, but based on eye witness accounts, the world's best-known momager did not seem to enjoy herself.
"She spent most of it pacing up and down in the lobby on her phone surrounded by security guards so nobody could get too close," a source tells The Daily Mail.
"Kris was in the room for the speeches but was in the lobby for most of the rest of the event."
It would be an understandable reaction if Kris were acting out of concern.
But astonishingly, another witness claims that Kris appeared to be angry with her hospitalized son-in-law.
"I overheard her in the ladies’ toilets on the phone saying, 'Great, another thing, another thing ruined for us," says the onlooker.
"This was supposed to be a nice evening for us and everything is ruined because of Kanye.'"
Seems hard to believe, but this is Kris Jenner we're talking about.
If she was of the belief that this event was necessary in order for Kim to announce her return to the public eye, we could certainly imagine her losing her temper with Kanye.
The weird thing is, if there's anyone on the planet who's as concerned with public image as Kris is, it's Kanye.
As outrageous as Kris' actions are, if she was acting out of interest for Kim's career, we're guessing Yeezy would approve.
