So, you thought the bad blood between Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift was over?
You believed this delicate situation had been put to bed and both sides had shaken off all hard feelings?
HA, in your wildest dreams perhaps.
About five weeks after Swift and Kardashian both commented on the long-simmering feud, which had at least been placed on the back burnder by each party for a couple years, the latter appears to have stoked the flames once again...
... by issuing a clear challenge to her hated foe.
On Tuesday, Kim announced that a joint fragrance project between herself and sister Kylie Jenner would be released on April 26, writing simply:
"KKW FRAGRANCE X KYLIE launching 4/26 at NOON."
What's the significance here?
Swift has been teasing this same exact date for several weeks now, dropping images such as the one below on her Instagram page:
The strong assumption by all followers is that Swift will be releasing new music on that date ahead of her seventh studio album.
Now, Kim and Taylor aren't really professional rivals, of course.
One could easily spray some of Kim's new perfume on one's neck while downloading Swift's new track, meaning Kim isn't direct competition for Taylor in any legitimate regard... but come on.
No way is this just a coincidence, right? Kardashian is clearly trying to stir some $hit up.
And we aren't the only folks who think so.
“So shady of them to launch the same day as Taylor Swift,” one Instagram user wrote, while another added:
“LIKE ON THE SAME DAY AS TAYLOR SWIFT NEW SINGLE LIKE YOU ARE NOT OVER IT LIKE YOU SAY YOU ARE."
Back in 2016, of course, Swift acted angry and aghast after Kanye West rapped about her in the song "Famous."
But Kardashian then released a recording of a phone call between her husband and the artist in which Taylor learned ahead of time about the lyrics West would sing about her, basically giving him permission to do so.
Kimye used this recording to paint Swift as a liar, a manipulator and, famously, a snake.
It prompted Swift to eventually release a famous statement in which she asked to be "excluded" from Kim and Kanye's "narrative."
Just a few weeks ago, meanwhile, Swift addressed this feud after remaining silent about it for a very long time.
“In my experience, I’ve come to see that bullies want to be feared and taken seriously,” Swift told Elle in March, never naming Kardashian but making it clear about whom she was referring.
Added Swift:
“A few years ago, someone started an online hate campaign by calling me a snake on the Internet. The fact that so many people jumped on board with it led me to feeling lower than I’ve ever felt in my life.”
Pretty candid, huh?
"It would be nice if we could get an apology from people who bully us, but maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it," Swift also said at this time.
How did Kim feel about Taylor trashing her a bully last month?
"Taylor can talk all the s--t she wants because Kim is done with her and her petty games," a source close to the reality star told Radar Online in response, concluding:
"Taylor only brings Kim and Kanye's name up when no one is paying attention to her and it is just sad...
"She just really thinks that Taylor needs to grow the f-ck up and stop bringing her back into her narrative."
Respectfully, we disagree.
