Reductive douche bags who wish to downplay her many achievements will tell you that Kim Kardashian is famous because of a sex tape.
While that's obviously not true, we're sure Kim would be the first to admit that her famous curves -- and her willingness to flaunt them -- have done much to boost her public profile, particularly in the early years of her career.
These days, however, Kim is so much more than just a sex symbol.
She's a mother of four, an advocate for criminal justice reform, and the face of one of the most successful media brands in the world.
With so much on her plate, perhaps it's no surprise that Kim has chosen to tone down her look and dress a little less provocatively.
What is surprising, however, is her specific motivation for reaching that decision.
If Kim had revealed that she felt nude photo spreads were distracting from her true passion projects ... well, that would make perfect sense.
But showing less skin because of Kanye West and Donald Trump? That, we have a bit of a hard time with.

The issue focuses on the movers and shakers who helped define the decade closing out -- and really, who owned the 2010s more than Kim?
Asked about the more conservative look she favors these days, Kim suggests that the dual influences of her newly-evangelical husband and our porn-loving president have factored into her decision.
Asked if she's decided to dress "less sexy" these days, Kim replied, "I think I have a little bit."
"I don’t know if it's the fact that my husband has voiced that sometimes too sexy is just overkill and he's not comfortable with that," she added.
"I listen to him and understand him. Still, at the end of the day, he always gives me the freedom to be and do what I want."
These days, Kim's primary focuses are motherhood and her work in the legal arena, and she said she recently realized that public semi-nudity could have an undesirable effect on both.
"But I have kind of had this awakening myself. I realized I could not even scroll through Instagram in front of my kids without full nudity coming up on my feed pretty much all the time. And I definitely contributed to that," she continued.
Kim has secured presidential pardons for several non-violent offenders in recent months, and she revealed that she fretted over the possibility that her online persona might impinge on this very important work.
"I hope they don't see this," Kim said, recalling her concerns about her Instagram pics between White House visits.
"I have to go back there next week."
We can see why Kim might have decided it's simply not worth the risk.
But if she thought Trump would be less willing to work with her because she posed for some racy photos, she doesn't know Donnie.
Kim adds that the influence of Donye Wump (We've included an artist's rendering of Donye Wump above, in case you've been sleeping too well lately.) isn't the only reason she's been posting fewer scantily-clad selfies lately.
The 39-year-old revealed that she doesn't spend as much time thinking about the 'Gram these days, as she just doesn't "care as much anymore to want to take tons of photos in a thong bikini."
From there the interviewer pointed out that what Kim's leaked sex tape would likely be considered revenge porn by today's standards.
In a refreshingly frank moment, Kim reveals that she never considered that possibility -- and doesn't care to speak on it now, as her brother, Rob Kardashian, was recently accused of posting revenge porn.
"Wow! I never even thought about that. I guess that question is a bit tricky. Not even for my situation, but because my brother did post photos of his baby mama and he's in a revenge-porn lawsuit," she answered.
"Obviously, I get the difference. And I would talk about me. But I don't know the right thing to say without making him feel like the biggest piece of shit."
What better way to close out this decade than with Kim Kardashian acknowledging that the world is a very different place from when she and Ray J first broke the internet?
