No, Kim Kardashian has not split from Kanye West. That was just an April Fool's joke.
But that doesn't mean the couple's planned wedding ceremony will take place as scheduled on May 24.
According to French statutes uncovered by Radar Online, that nation requires at least one of half of a prospective married couple to be a resident of the country for a minimum of 40 days leading up to the ceremony.
Kanye has an apartment in Paris, but he doesn't live there full-time.
"Kim and Kanye were unaware until recently that France required a residency requirement prior to the marriage," an insider tells Radar.
How will they handle this crisis? Will they be forced to scrap the plans they've been working on for months?
Not necessarily.
Some believe that Kanye postponed his Australian tour dates this month in order to basically move to Paris for the next few weeks in order to fulfill this requirement.
Another interesting French tidbit, meanwhile, is that France actually requires TWO wedding ceremonies: one civil and one religious.
"The religious ceremony has to be performed after the civil ceremony (never before)," the French Embassy says. "The minister, priest or rabbi will require a certificate of civil marriage before any religious ceremony takes place."
This adds another wrinkle to the Kimye union, one that will be legally recognized in the United States but one that won't be as simple as just setting up a bunch of E! cameras and letting the film roll.
