Kim Kardashian and her self-serving family have taken up a cause that actually does not serve themselves.
The reality star, her mother and many other big names in Hollywood have petitioned the White House to step in and help Kelly Rutherford bring her kids back to the United States.
The former Gossip Girl star has been in a six-year custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Giersch, who is residing with the couple’s two children in France.
Last month, a judge deemed this living situation palatable because Rutherford is free to travel and see son Hermes, 8, and daughter Helena, 5, at any time.
But it’s not exactly convenient - and custody battle has cost the actress approximately $2.5 million, prompting her to file for bankruptcy in 2013.
According to a petition going around, Giersch recently filed paperwork seeking to strip his ex-wife of all parental rights.
Former colleagues Matthew Settle and Ed Westwick have openly supported Rutherford on social media, while Kim Kardashian has penned a series of Tweets meant to alert others to the cause.
“I signed this petition bc I believe it's the right thing to do & if u believe in it please sign it,” she wrote this week.
"I know I don't know you @KellyRutherford but as a mom I feel your pain and I wish you the best of luck!"
Rutherford later responded to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, Tweeting:
"I am in tears. Thank you so much! From me and my kids!"
