Kim Kardashian posed totally naked on Instagram this week in order to stick it to her pregnancy haters.
But it's gonna take more than some boobs and a butt to shut up Kim's latest critic: the Food and Drug Administration.
That government agency sent a letter on August 7 to Duchesnay executive vice president Eric Gervais after Kardashian endorsed a morning sickness pill on her social media account.
“OMG. Have you heard about this? As you guys know my #morningsickness has been pretty bad,” the 34-year-old wrote earlier this summer while holding a bottle of the drug DICLEGIS.
The Instagram post has since been deleted.
“The Office of Prescription Drug Promotion…has reviewed the Kim Kardashian Social Media Post,” reads the FDA letter, explaining:
"The social media post is false or misleading in that it presents efficacy claims for DICLEGIS, but fails to communicate any risk information."
As anyone who watches television knows, drug commercials are required to state the side effects of all medication.
The letter also notes that Kardashian failed to mention fine print on the drug’s label that describes its approved uses and includes important limitations on the use of the pill.
Shocking, huh? That Kim Kardashian was just trying to make money off a product instead of offering any details on how it works or whether it works?
As a result, Kim's “violations are concerning from a public health perspective because they suggest the DICLEGIS is safer than has been demonstrated.”
In conclusion, the FDA’s document has requested that Duchesnay offer corrections to the claims “using the same media."
So, instead of seeing Kim Kardashian nude on Instagram again in the near future, you may be seeing another, more accurate message about DICLEGIS.
